faerie art [15 Jul 2006|12:18pm]

esteltinuviel
I come with faerie art, or actually faerie fashion!

So here it is. I modeled my art after the art of David Ellwand in the book Fairy-ality. Copyright 2002 by Candlewick Press and David Ellwand. If you havne't already read that book, I would highly recommend it as a sorce of faerie fun!

Auctioning off SilverLeaf pieces originally intended for the WWRF!!! [22 Feb 2006|10:59am]

[ mood | hopeful ]

Dear all....

Remember my hopeful post about being a vendor for the WWRF? I was going to be showing and selling pieces from my Silver Leaves Collection (mostly)....pieces that look like this...

Image hosting by Photobucket

A lot of people asked me to post an update about how things went. Well, I'll spare you the rant/whimperage about that disaster, but suffice to say, because of the failure of others to do their jobs, my work was never shown or sold. I've gotten my package back from FedEx, and am hoping to cut my losses by auctioning off the pieces that aren't already spoken for. Please see my gallery journal to view the pieces up for auction, and, if you're willing, spread the SilverLeaf love, and promote my auction wherever and to whoever you think it might be appreciated!

Much oblidged..

Aiya,
I just joined this community. So, a little introduction about myself. My name means "hope nightingale" literally translated from Tokien's Quenya Elvish. I am in love with faeries and anything Brian Froud (I can't wait for the shirts at Hot Topic...), but first I am a fine artist. My faerie art is very similar to that in Fairie-ality, by Ellwand, although I do 2-D. I most recently have begun painting faeries and actually am going to try painting some this weekend. So that's all really. I just like the art and being a faerie artist myself, thought I would join. Namaarie and Sayonara.
P.S. I think my cat might be a goblin, if not, she is definitely a neko yasha.

How to paint a fairy step by step [23 Jun 2005|11:15am]

wendykathleen
I've just added a new section to my website called the Painting Tutorial. In it, I walk you through my painting process for a little fairy girl, step by step, explaining different painting techniques and also what paint, paper and brushes I use. I'm hoping it will be a valuable resource for other artists and fun for others to see the painting process. Check it out at http://www.wendykathleenart.com/tutorial.php

Hello all, I've just joined your community, and I love all the art that's up already, you are all really good!

Anyhoo, I've decided to post this, as I was boredly sketching a while ago, but to be honest I'm not really sure what I was sketching. Oh well take a look:

I have no idea how to add a link in this, it doesn't appear to be working...

Oh well view it here: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v452/abbitha/rapture.jpg

There's a random picure of Cho Chang on there as well for some reason. You might need to make the image bigger to get a better look, and I apologise for the poor quality of it, my scanner is a busted *kicks*

I just finished this new little faerie, but I have drawn a blank on what to name her. So, I'm running a contest to give her a name. Please help her find a name.
Don't forget to include your name and where you live. I will be announcing the winner in June. The winner will receive a a package of faerie cards featuring this faerie as seen on my on-line cafepress store.

For love of shooting stars... [20 May 2004|12:39am]

rhiannontherose
[ mood | anxious ]

Where are the Dreamers who walk this world but refuse to be limited by it? Where are those who feel they belong in other places, other ages? Where are the romantics, the kindred, the spiritual, the magickal? Where are those who lavish in fantasy, in arcana, in the natural, the celestial, the medieval, the Renaissance, the Celtic lands, lore and legend, mythology and memory? Where are the old-world goths of dark beauty, of velvet and stone? Where are the fae spirits, the moon-dancers, the forest-wanderers, the wind-singers? Where are those who feel they've found their place in the world once they are at RenFests, or Faires, the SCA or RPGs? Where are you?

I know you're out there. After all, I am. And I'm trying so hard to bring a little more of the wonder of the world I'd rather be living in, into the world of mundane logistics that I'm stuck in. I'm trying to take the muddle of questions...of health, time, family, finances, sanity...and answer it in a way that allows me to meet all those needs with who I am, not just what I can do...and share it. Share it with the rest of you...the friends, those who could be friends, those who simply share the same kind of fondness for the world and its potentials. Those who have been yelling into my head until I head echoes of confidence that...I can do this.

I can start my own small business based on my artisanship, based on my personality, based on who I am and what I love and how I see the world. Butterfly Rose Creations can be another dream made more than a dream. And it's the sort of dream I can share.

But the yelling has faded to whispers now that I've started making my little declaration to the world, and few seem to want to stand by what was said. Would you take a look? Would you share with me what you make of what you find? Will you help me add a little more beauty, a little more meaning, to the world we're all lost and found in?

Please?

Some of you know me, know what I offer in friendship, advice, information or ideas. Some of you might simply remember my offer of DragonMoons previously. Now I am running two new auctions (yes, EBay auctions, I admit it...but I'm desperate), here and here. The first is of a chain-maille styled choker and matching earrings, featuring shiny stainless steel rings, fittings, and cascading chain, and blue stone stars. The second is of a matching hand-flower/slave bracelet (a bracelet that extends over the back of the hand to at least one finger). Both are hand-made, original designs on a shooting star theme. (This is, after all, about passionate wishes.) Both are feminine yet not fragile, both durable and beautiful, professional but not standardized. The auctions have about 3 days and 20 hours left.

Some of the images can be found here belowCollapse )

Pretty please with dragons on top... [27 Apr 2004|10:38pm]

rhiannontherose
Good e'en, all...

I'm a rather old spirit who has recently decided that "appropriate reality" as popularly conceived in this day and age, nevermind the jobs available within it, simply does not suit me well enough to humor, anymore. Or, perhaps, this is not so recently decided, but I've recently been able to start doing something about it. I'm actually trying to start my own small business based on my artistic services and my artisanship, most flowing from my tendancies towards anything old-world...Celtic, Medieval, Renaissance, Goth, Arcane, Fantasy, Celestial, Nature-based...sometimes brightly, etherialy shimmering, sometimes darkly romantic. If I can get this going, I can live in ever-so-much-less pain (metaphorically and literally...I have a disability that dreams of wings don't help make any more compatable with "normal" jobs), bringing more magick and wonder to the whole of the life I share with my husband and friends, instead of only living vicariously within a small bubble floating through it. No less worthy, I could do this by way of sharing that same magick and beauty and wonder with other kindred spirits out there. Ahhh...to dream!

Of course, this is just starting out, and so rather slowly untangling from a rather mundane muddle. As one of the early stages in this process, I'm trying to get a feel for how people respond to some of my designs, and if anyone feels that they are worthy of taking into their own lives, and so helping along my own. I've got an e-bay auction going at the moment, with one of my jewelry sets...what I call the "DragonMoon" set. It's a hand-made, original-design, necklace/earrings set featuring silver chain, silver moons, hematite (metallic black stone) stars, and silver cast "dragon moons".

The auction can be found here. I'd really, really appreciate it if you took a look, asked questions, gave feedback...and if you are a'tall interested and able, if you'd bid...or if you think anyone else might be interested and able, please tell them about it so that they can bid! The auction only had one day and 20 hours left. Eep!

If you're curious, the set looks like this hereCollapse ) The auction page also shows a close-up of the back of the necklace, as well as a close-up of what the earrings look like, and oodles of information.

Thank you thank you thank you and otherwise I'm looking forward to meeting kindred in all these lovely new communities I've found. Ah yes...I admit cross-posting this...mudanity makes me desperate. ;-)

Even though my website isn't completely set up, I have completed my forum, sans new emoticons and the main logo. It's basically a community for everyone who'd like to join up, but it features sections for both artists and writers to post their work if they so choose. However, you can't just come in, post work, and disappear. I expect all members to participate in other forums as well, especially the socialisation ones.

The Blue Jackal Productions Forums

Also, please make note that you will not be able to see the main part of the forums first. I have to approve you after you post in the Newbie Lounge.

Thanks!
